Our Story

How it all started...

Cornerstone Church began as Divine Life World Outreach Center in 1983, founded by a group of believers who desired a Bible-believing, Spirit-filled, life-giving church. Initially starting as a Bible study group, the church emerged from prayer and a desire to witness the move of God until it became clear that the formation of a church was underway. The church focused on teaching the Bible and proclaiming its life-changing, transformative power.

In its early days, like the Early Church, the congregation met in a small house but quickly outgrew the space. Over the years, the church gathered in various locations, including above Rosenbush Furniture store and in the old pool hall in Linden. In the 1990s, the church purchased a vacant National Guard Armory in Linden, where it remains today. At that time, the name was changed to Cornerstone Church, inspired by Ephesians 2:20 (NLT): "Together, we are His house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus Himself."
